So, I got hit with a text today that knew my first and last name, but also knew that I made a short film. Started it off by calling me some goofy name. They sent me a random twitter link, asked about meeting at my campus's library (even made a couple jokes about needing some cigarettes and eating steak) Said he heard my movie was a smash hit in his sister's Facebook group. (people liked it well enough) I kept pressing for info obviously. They just kept saying they "had my back" and were anonymous doners. that I "didn't need to know anything" and to "trust us." I kept pushing, and he insisted that they "work their miracles." I asked what to expect, they said "success, one day." So, the usual, right? But this is where it got weird. he said the meeting was postponed because I expressed discomfort. Which i technically did. he said they were a religious group called "Voxtech." and he VEHEMENTLY insisted they weren't related to the show. or the data company. that they were a religious/charity group that existed before hazbin hotel. There was a software company also called Voxtech, which he also denied connections to. They apparently don't have an online presense. it got even weirder when he insisted that I could block him. to never think about them again. to just remember them once I find success. he said that theyd "contact me once I became successful" and thats when ill be provided more information. I then asked if they were banking on me being successful, or if they'd help. he said they would "Guarantee that id be successful." He kept insisting that they couldn't reveal anything, and that I could block him and never think about them again. Nothing negative would happen. That I dont have to believe them now, and dont have to believe them then. He just wanted me to remember them when i found success. They'd quietly help me in the future. like what's even the point? It keeps going. I asked him why, he said the obligatory answer was “We love smiling upon the misguided and guiding the misfortune." That they dont have an online presence and are a small charity. I kept pressing. He said he doesn't pick their clients, someone else does, and he has no idea how or why clients are picked. Never said who picks his clients, but said a Katie would meet me. I know a few Katies. One even attended the premier of my short film. Kinda weird. I pressed more. He said he was new. Apparently Katie knows me. He said to please leave him alone and that he can decline the case if neccesary. He said the group "supposedly helped him too." Last thing he said was "eye on the sky. connection terminaed." When I call them, I get "the number you are trying to reach is no longer in service " What i dont get is. Why was he so insistent that this group would help me, even if I don't believe them/express discomfort? To what purpose would this be a scam if they're supposed to be an anonymous benefactor that pitched in when it helps. I dont get it at all. They still want to help
