Romance Scam Story

A reddit report about a romance scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

My best friend got into a "relationship" with him sometime around February and she ended with him about November/December. She recently discovered that while he was dating her, he was seeing other people. Even went on dates with other people and would not take the time to come and see her. He would give her sob stories and ask for money, and she would send it believing he would pay her back. She would tell him things, and he would say things like oh I'm sleeping on my friend's couch. Or his parents kicked him out. There is so much going on, and she is looking for people who have been scammed by him just to connect and recover from the mental anguish. He would tell her oh I'm going to this place or this place, and he'd be gone for weeks at a time. There was one instance where she was in training and unable to text or call and he got upset with her because she wasn't answering his messages but if he didn't respond to her and he ghosted her for weeks at a time it was okay. There was a moment when he was supposed to be in his home country and he sent her a screen shot of his phone and the time was the exact same as hers. She caught that and he's like good catch I manually reset my time zones. She recently found other women that he has been seeing. There is an AVO out against him. Think of an AVO like a restraining order. She's been in contact with a couple of other people. She's heard that he's been sleeping with other women and sexting other women as well. She knows the possibility of finding others that have been affected by him as well is probably a low probability but she's hoping she can find others.
