Romance Scam Story

Warning to others but also I’m so scared with what they have. We’re looking for a rental and came across an adorable spot on Craigslist below market. Maybe that should have been my first warning. Anyway I contacted the person and they seemed lovely; I looked up the name of who was emailing me and they are a physician in our city and Zillow etc shows them as the owner of the house. They said the house is occupied for 2 more weeks but asked me to fill out an application before seeing it. As I type this I feel like an idiot but at the time I thought, it’s been a while since we’ve looked for a place and we live in a competitive market. So I filled out the goddamn application and now this fucker knows my name, partners name, child’s name… our address, employers. What finally stopped me was they asked me to Venmo them an application fee to an account of a different name and the account photo was a sexy lady who the owner claimed was his wife. But it felt shady enough I stopped. I’ve called the PD, filled out an FTC form and all our credit is frozen. But I’m so scared that this person knows so much.
