On May 14, 2025, I sent Melissa (Missie) Jacobson (dba Missie Loves Photography) an email inquiring about the maternity through one-year photography package advertised on her website, asking if that is a service she still provides. I received an email from Missie that same day confirming that she does still offer the package. From May 16 through June 23, 2025, Missie and I communicated via email about scheduling a maternity shoot. However, after my June 23rd email, Missie ceased communication and never provided the maternity shoot.
During this same time frame, on June 21, 2025, I paid Missie via Venmo $850 for the maternity through one-year photography package. The package includes photo shoots for maternity, newborn, 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and one-year pictures. My daughter was born on August 8, 2025. On August 12, 2025, I emailed Missie about scheduling a newborn photo shoot. From August 12 through August 26, 2025, I sent Missie multiple emails, social media messages, a message through her website, a text, and had a friend contact her on my behalf, but did not receive a response. On August 28, 2025, Missie finally responded, claiming she was signed into the wrong email and that’s why she hadn’t gotten back to me. We scheduled a newborn photo shoot, which occurred on September 7, 2025, at my home.
On October 3, 2025, I contacted Missie asking for a status update on when I would receive my photos. I also asked about my 3-month shoot, as my baby would be turning three months in November. I did not receive a response. I sent follow-up emails on October 12, November 1, and November 28, 2025, but again received no response. On November 6, 2025, I requested a refund of $850 from Missie on Venmo; she did not fulfill it. On November 28, 2025, I again requested a refund and delivery of my photos. On January 14, 2026, I texted Missie asking her to contact me and deliver my photos. On January 29, 2026, I sent a follow-up text and requested a refund of $850 via PayPal. To date, I have not received a response to any of my emails, I have not received my pictures, and I have not received a refund. She has also failed to provide 3-month and 6-month photo shoots of my daughter, who is now six months old.
Between October and December 2025, I became aware of at least six others in the same situation, with Missie having scammed people out of thousands of dollars. Between February and April 2026, four separate lawsuits were filed in conciliation court. Two hearings have occurred; Missie has not attended either. In April 2026, Missie shut down her website in an attempt to hide evidence described in the lawsuits.
