On May 14, 2025, I emailed Melissa (Missie) Jacobson, who runs Missie Loves Photography, asking about the maternity-through-1-year photography package advertised on her website and whether she still offered it. She replied the same day, confirming she did. From May 16 through June 23, 2025, we communicated by email about scheduling a maternity shoot, but after my June 23rd email she went silent and never provided the shoot. Meanwhile, on June 21, 2025, I paid her $850 via Venmo for the package, which includes maternity, newborn, 3-month, 6-month, 9-month, and 1-year photo shoots.
My daughter was born on August 8, 2025. On August 12, I emailed Missie about scheduling the newborn shoot. From August 12 through August 26, I sent multiple emails, social media messages, a website message, a text, and even had a friend contact her on my behalf—no response. On August 28, she finally replied, claiming she had been signed into the wrong email. We scheduled the newborn shoot, which happened at my home on September 7, 2025.
On October 3, 2025, I emailed asking when I'd get the photos and also asked about the 3-month shoot, since my baby would turn 3 months in November. I got no response. I followed up on October 12, November 1, and November 28, 2025—still nothing. On November 6, I requested a refund of $850 through Venmo; she didn't fulfill it. On November 28, I again requested the refund and my photos. On January 14, 2026, I texted her asking her to contact me and deliver the photos. On January 29, I sent another text and requested the $850 refund via PayPal. To date, I've received no response, no pictures, and no refund. She has also failed to provide the 3-month and 6-month shoots; my daughter is now 6 months old.
Between October and December 2025, I learned of at least six other people in the same situation with Missie, who has now scammed people out of thousands of dollars. From February to April 2026, four separate lawsuits were filed in conciliation court. Two hearings have occurred, and she didn't attend either. In April 2026, she shut down her website, apparently trying to hide evidence described in the lawsuits.
