Are there any immediate steps that one can do if someone refuses to believe they’re being scammed and refuses help? I have an aunt that is being scammed day after day - every week it’s a new scam . First it was a “job” that paid her in Apple gift cards that she had to buy herself, next it was “an investment opportunity with Elon musk” , now it’s a new boyfriend that changes every week. We have filed a report with the FBI, the police, contacted her bank but they can’t do anything, and now she is opening other bank accounts to hide from us. She’s taken out a second mortgage on her house and got her car repossessed. She refuses to believe she’s being scammed and doesn’t have a spouse or kids so like I’m not sure how I’m allowed to help. I was thinking about creating an account on the three credit bureaus to freeze her account behind her back since I do have access to her SSN and can create an email on her behalf (unethical but she will literally be homeless in a year at this rate) Is there anything I can do for this situation when I’m not a spouse or kid?
