Everyone, I know.. there are posts about how surface level and ineffectual Coursiv is, but the Coursiv.io app was $20 and I’m 36yo and thought it was a fair price to see how the different apps were best used and to see some tips on how. Now I’m $120 deep..
This was a mistake. As many know.
Using what may be assumed to be a ‘buy it now’ or ‘add to cart’ styled button, they immediately start charging your card rather than prompt a “you sure?” window.
I’ve been charged $49.99 USD twice (2x), once for “AI Tools” and then separately for “AI Complete Tools” (now that I have the tools, I’m charged the same for the tools with the prompts that will be my savior). Since I gave my card information once, it seems they assumed both charges would be confirmed by one click.
The predatory behavior lies in:
- simulating a “buy it now”-esque button
- one-click charge to card for products not advertised
- use of a ‘one-click-purchase’ 'buy it now' button that takes up a large portion of phone screen and is within 'thumb-distance' of usable (and pre-purchased) tools.
TLDR
The $20 buy-in is a scam, nothing new here. If you engage with the web-app (where the link directs you) past initiation, you could accidentally be charged $100.
