My wife received a series of emails from WalMart in the early morning hours. All arrived within a few minutes of each other.
The first one thanked her for choosing "password free" login and was followed quickly by another saying her password was changed.
The next thanked her for her order charged to an account ending in "1234" to be shipped to a distant state. It was followed by a notice that the order was flagged (or such like) and canceled.
Then WalMart thanked her for her order charged to an account ending in "4321" to be shipped to the same state. It was followed by a notice that the order was flagged (or such like) and canceled.
This pattern repeated a few more times with the same two account numbers. All were canceled pretty much instantly. All of the charges were for fairly small amounts (i.e., well under $100 each).
It seems important to note that we have never had an account ending in either 1234 or 4321. I checked our actual account numbers and found no charges from WalMart or any other source during the same time period.
Is this worth worrying about, or is it simply weird? FWIW, I am not sure when we last bought anything online from WalMart. It has likely been quite a few years.
