This voicemail message got to me on my personal phone, but it's addressed to my father. I'm not sure if it's real or not, so I'm worried about what I should do next. How do I search for the file number given in the message, and is this a typical thing that happens?
Shown here is the transcript of the voicemail message.
"This is an urgent message intended for [my father's name]. Please reference file number XXX-XXX.
Hello, I am contacting you to discuss a matter that has been forwarded to my office for consideration of legal action, including the filing of a lawsuit and our complaint with the court.
To discuss these pending actions that may be filed against you, you will need to contact the firm directly and hand in your case files at XXX-XXX-XXXX.
This matter is time sensitive, and if they don't receive a response they may be forced to proceed without your participation or consent. Also, the advisement calls are logged and submitted as proof that efforts have been made to notify you of the pending complaint against you in a timely manner."
EDIT: I have already alerted my father and family about this voicemail.
