I sell vintage items on Etsy. Over the past few months I have gotten the same pattern twice. First, a buyer places an order but does not pay, so the item remains available for others to buy. They ask a question about the item but then disappear the next day. Then a completely new person buys the item and pays. After the shipping time has elapsed, or just before, they send an email asking that the item be sent to a different address. In both cases the item is less than $100. The first time this happened, Etsy canceled the order after I had shipped it because it seemed fraudulent, and I did end up getting my money back. What is the point of this scam?
