I was almost taken for $18k the other month. I received an email from an account I owe asking if I could make payment via wire. The scammer changed one letter in the email address so it looked legit. He intercepted the original invoice before I saw it and pasted in his wire instructions (USA bank account) and account number. I called the company that I owed and they confirmed it was not their info and that I was being scammed. What can I do to prevent this from happening to others? Bastard almost got my hard earned cash!
