Return Shipping Costs More Than the Product

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $139.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I ordered two linen top/pants and a scarf from North Fashion on their website on March 10. I received the items on March 28, but the quality was not linen fabric, and they didn't fit or look like the style advertised. On March 31, 2026, I contacted North Fashion about their return policy. After several emails to get the return information, I went to my post office and was told the return postage would be $139.00. The company requires returns to be shipped overseas, which deters the client from returning the items because the cost of shipping back is more than the product purchased. After several emails and letting their associate "Olivia S." know this was an unethical way of doing business, all I got was a run-around with no way to return the products. I will forward the ongoing emails that wasted more time than this is worth, although I do not want anyone else to get treated this way. Sophie, I am not satisfied with the quality of the products that were shipped. Also, the color of the scarf is odd. I would like to return my order. Please advise. You'll receive a message containing the return address shortly after submitting the form. 3. When arranging the return shipment with your chosen courier, please select the option for returning goods. Once shipped, please provide us with proof of shipment, including the tracking number, within 48 hours of receiving return approval. Rest assured, upon receipt of the returned item, we'll promptly confirm its arrival and initiate the refund process. Please allow 2-3 business days for the refund to be processed once the item is received." I asked them for their return policy and was told to click a link. Then I told them the return address was in Italy, which would cost more than what I paid. I wrote: "Is this your idea of satisfaction toward your clients?" They offered a 30% gift card as a goodwill gesture. I replied that their return policy is a scam. They said they are unable to issue a credit until the items are returned. The amount of $81.90 is to be credited back to my credit card ending *****, for the transaction dated March 10, 2026 to SP North fashion store San Cristobal TF (see attached). The products were shipped from: 1055 Sesame St. Franklin. The return should be able to go back to the same address it was shipped from, but their return policy requires sending it overseas, which is so costly the client won't return it because it doesn't make financial sense. The overseas address or phone number is not mentioned upfront, only after you click into their system to get return information, which is deceiving and fraudulent. They kept asking for return tracking information, but there has been no resolution to the return situation.
