This response is after having sent over $700 (not including applications) and finally asking if we can just meet at the property before I sent the '50% of one month's rent to ensure your commitment' or some bs. This is completely my fault, lol. I should've taken more time to learn about red flags for rental scams, and now I'm out a total of $900. I'm still in slight denial, but I noticed they did say the word 'kindly' once or twice, and this email is a huge indicator because of the karma and kids comment, and about how hard it is to earn money. They sent me multiple ways to send the money because their bank kept declining the transaction. I actually can't believe I fell for this. I thought I was very aware of scams, but I totally did not care and I'm screwed now. I'm a student working part time, and I've blown through the rest of my savings doing this. I really don't know how I'm gonna break the news to my partner or my family.
