I too am a cotton-headed-ninny-muggins (quoting Elf) who clicked on the recent Punchbowl scam email. The email address was legitimately my friend’s and the email looked somewhat normal on my iPhone.
The link took me to a Google login page, which immediately shocked me out of my un-caffeinated state. I realized it was not legitimate and did not enter anything — email or password. I didn’t see an option to download anything.
That said, I’m afraid the site may have downloaded malware anyway. My phone started getting very warm while I was researching the issue, though there was no battery drain or sluggish performance.
Nonetheless, I did a full phone reset and restored the prior day’s backup about 10 minutes after clicking the stupid link.
Two questions: 1) Does it seem likely malware could’ve been installed on my iPhone? (I’m up to date on iOS.) 2) If so, what might have been stolen in such a short time? I assume banking info is the primary target, so I changed those passwords.
