Phony Xfinity Caller Scams Elderly Mother

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $90.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Someone called my elderly mother, claiming to be from Xfinity. He said his name was Jacob and his return number was 888-491-3303 and his operator # 105. He continued to claim her modem was outdated and she needed updated equipment, which would initially charge her a one-time $90 fee. So, she reluctantly gave him her debit card number. Afterwards, she called me and I contacted her bank immediately to freeze her account. I Googled the phone number and the company came up as Energize Sat in New York.
