Over the past two weeks, I've received two SMS messages with a 4-digit code for 'login' or 'change your account,' supposedly from Trade Republic. The weird thing is that I've never had an account with them, I'm not a German citizen, and my phone number isn't German either. As far as I know, Trade Republic doesn't even operate outside Germany. I emailed the contact address listed on their website just to be safe, but the reply I got felt like a generic template. I specifically explained that I was receiving SMS codes, yet their response simply said they couldn't find an account associated with my email — which wasn't even the issue I reported. I also found a few articles mentioning a large-scale phishing campaign targeting Trade Republic users, so now I'm wondering if these messages are part of that.
