PayPal $0.01 deposit phishing warning

A reddit report about a phishing scam that cost someone $0.01. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I got an email from PayPal saying I had received a deposit of $0.01 from this entity. The email title says 'Alert: Your account link to a third-party wallet. A small deposit confirms activation, and 980 USD will be processed soon. Call (800) 385-xxxx for help.' I know not to call the number, and Google doesn't turn up a business by that name (unsurprising). I checked my PayPal app and I did indeed receive the deposit. I know it's a scam, so to prevent having a bigger scam deposit in my account that I have to ignore until it gets clawed back, I want to block the account. How do I do that? I use PayPal often to pay, so having mystery money that I know will eventually go away will really annoy me.
