Yesterday I received a delivery from UPS addressed to me, with my full name and the correct apartment number and everything. The return address said "Nike" and had an address in Lebanon, IL. I opened the box and inside was a brand new pair of Jordans in my size. There was no packing slip or message or anything.
I have never purchased Jordans. I have not purchased anything directly from Nike since maybe 2002, and that would have been with an old email address that is not associated with my current address. I considered buying a pair of Jordans in a brick and mortar store one time about ten years ago. These shoes are limited edition (I think?), sold for $205, and really not my style.
The list of people who know my exact shoe size and my mailing address is pretty short. I honestly think everyone on the list would have to ask me for one of those pieces of information, unless they searched through old text messages. That's a level of effort I can't see happening for a gift, but maybe for a prank. This doesn't seem like the kind of prank my circle would pull. Also, I've checked with everyone I can think of who could have possibly sent me these shoes and every reaction has been somewhere between confusion and genuine concern for my safety (s/o to my dad).
I have checked every payment method I can think of--credit and debit cards, Venmo/PayPal, buy now/pay later services. Nothing.
I know about brushing, and I think I've had that happen a few times, but I don't see why Nike would do it or why a brusher would send me something so expensive. Is this a scam? It seems like kind of the opposite, but I'm very confused and tbh a little afraid (s/o dad again).
