Hey so before I report on what happened to me, I have already done my research on this subreddit and a few others after I got hacked, and I am now aware of the solutions to try and recover my accounts and possibly my money. This post is mainly being written as a way to raise awareness so that other people don't become morons like me.
Basically, I got a DM on Discord from a stranger who wanted to play Minecraft with me through TLauncher, and they sent me a mod for it. Yes, I know what you're thinking — how could this moron even fall for something this idiotic? Idk what else to say besides I'm genuinely stupid. Anyway, I installed the mod and immediately got a notification on Gmail that reported my Google account would get deleted in 14 days because I'm a minor now, and then I got a notification that a little over $450 USD was taken from me and spent on fucking Discord server boosts (yes, I'm serious). As this was happening, I panicked and sent the rest of my money to my older sister through bank transfer.
At the time I had no idea how this hacker was able to bypass both my 2FAs on Google AND Discord, but like I said earlier, I've now done my research and from what I know, the solution is to first off change all my important passwords on a safe device (like my phone), then transfer any important files to an external USB or SSD drive, and then I have to do a clean re-install onto my Windows laptop.
(Btw if you are wondering about the Google account, I was able to change my birth date using my ID on my Google account to fix it so I wasn't a minor anymore, which is why the account was going to get deleted in 14 days. Of course, I did this after I changed my password through my phone.)
I have NOT cancelled the $450 worth of Discord boosts yet, as I've tried requesting Discord to refund my money. Of course, the problem is that the hacker also has access to my card, so I have to block it. If this is wrong and I should cancel the Discord boosts anyway, then please let me know. (Btw, I have already removed my card from Discord.)
Also, the hacker reached out to me through WhatsApp (location based in Turkey) and they said something akin to "Hi, do you need help recovering your account?" and obviously this is just an attempt to further scam me, so I have not responded to them.
At around 3am (after this fiasco happened around 11:30pm, I stayed awake till 2am trying to solve anything I can), but anyway, while I was sleeping I got Gmail notifications saying there were multiple attempts for someone trying to get into my bank account. Apparently the way the hacker is able to steal all my data through my laptop is by using the internet on my laptop, but my stupid bitch ass didn't turn the wifi off before sleeping because... I didn't do enough research?? Idk how I missed this, as turning wifi off was like the first step any reddit thread was mentioning and somehow I missed it last night.
Anyway, if there is any advice you guys want to give me.
