Loan shark calls: don't verify, they hang up

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $0.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Repeated calls from this scam lending company. The most recent was from 858-598-0484 with an automated message telling me that my application for a debt consolidation loan has been approved. I haven't applied for anything. I called back this time, twice. The first time a woman answered and when I mentioned that I didn't remember filling out an application, she hung up. The second one was a guy who kept giving me weird answers. He asked me to verify my information and then told me to give it to him. I refused and said I'd verify what he told me. I asked him to email me all of the information and I'd review it, and I gave him a throwaway email address. I did not receive anything. But he did give me the name of the company, which is PalmHaven Lending.
