I downloaded a fake e-vite installer from my friend's hacked email

A reddit report about a phishing scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

This seems different from the Punchbowl scams I've looked up here. I was asked to download *and install* the file for the full experience. Stupidly, I did. I deleted it instantly upon realizing what was happening, so I didn't install it. Am I still fucked? As others have said, this invitation came from my friend's email, which made it seem legit. They also type without great grammar, and the email had some strange typos too, but it seemed fitting. In retrospect, a few too many things were off. The file was called EviteRem_qhTpHNpu_installer_Win7-Win11_x86_x64.msi. When I hovered over the download link, it said fiyr [dot] digital. Anyway... yeah, let me know. Thank you!
