They're really getting smart. They called at shift change to try and get one over on us. I work at a gas station, and someone called about "calibrating the mobile payment system." I'm usually more savvy to these, but I was handed the phone by an upper-level manager who was leaving with her ride waiting, so I assumed it was an expected call, and that there was an email about it in the manager emails.
So the dude did get me to plug a Chime card number into my Google mobile wallet, but I didn't use it and deleted it after we finished with a rush of smoothie orders. My question is: can this affect my own bank accounts or Google account? I'll change my password ASAP (fuck it, I'm doing it on the clock, since my own manager handed me a phone scam). I'm assuming no on the banks, but Google asked if I wanted to take just the number off the mobile wallet, or the whole card off my Google account, and I'm gonna be real, I don't know if there's any way to reverse engineer hack access to my account from that.
Please don't be mean. My shift manager is already trying to make fun of me for this, and I'm low-key about to walk out over it. If we're gonna treat employees like this for being handed a phone scam from a manager and explicitly told to do what this person says...
