So this morning, while showering, I missed a phone call from a completely unknown number, no caller ID reported. Then I received a voicemail that goes as follows:
"This urgent message is in regards to [my name], my name is [insert female name here], state investigator, contacting you over [my mother's name]. If you know the defendant, have her contact the petitioner's office immediately, at [phone number w/ 833 area code], reference case file number [six digit number]."
The whole voicemail was the female "state investigator" speaking at 100 miles an hour (had to slow down the voicemail repeatedly to transcribe it), she pronounced both my name and my mother's names incorrectly (we have ethnic names, which you can guess based on my Reddit username), there was some weird keyboard clicking-clacking sound in the background, and on top of all of it, I am seeing similar scams being reported on the Better Business Bureau website.
Has anybody else run into this as of recent? It honestly freaked me out, and then I quickly realized something was off, and now I'm here lol.
