Fake invoice scam threatens my credit over $444 tech fee

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $444.21. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Same as other incident listed. They called the business I work for claiming they were calling back and that I had spoken to a colleague of theirs to verify information. I, again, was very busy and asked them to confirm who they were and what it was regarding (as we were transitioning email addresses at the time), they quickly mumbled the business name. Verified my name, business name, phone, etc. with simple answers (yes, correct, etc.). We got the invoice in the mail with a username and password on the invoice, no timeline or breakdown of services provided. We called the business to dispute this invoice and they threatened collections, but they could work out lowering the cost just for the tech fee $444.21 that simply HAD to be paid upon receipt of a new invoice. This is still ongoing and with the threat of collections and my personal credit being targeted, I am going to keep trying to delay paying any money to this scam of a company.
