Two separate letters with an office renter's name and business address were received at my office address. The return address on the envelopes said "Richard Clark, 3500 Main St, AMHERST, NY 14226." There was a post office stamp indicating the letter had been processed in "Buffalo NY 140, 20 MAR 2026." The letterhead said "Tomasz & Heffelfinger LLP" and indicated it was coming from a law office in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There was a website and email address included. I checked out the website and though it seems legit at first glance, upon further inspection, it is clearly full of AI images and verbiage no serious attorney would use. The letters I received were dated November 24, 2025; one was postmarked March 18th, 2026, and the other March 20th, 2026. Both stated that an "attorney" had been desperately trying to reach my tenant's name, about the insurance policy of a deceased client with the same last name. The "attorney" claimed over 11 million dollars was waiting for me to claim from my alleged dead relative, and that he would gladly split the money with me if I follow some simple steps to claim it. Both letters have the appearance of having been hand-stuffed and stamped with forever stamps. It's obviously a scam, however whoever is doing it does have a real person stuffing the envelopes and stamping them. They are clearly being mailed out of Buffalo, NY. It was odd to have two of them postmarked only two days apart. Looks like the scammer is obtaining the person's information needed to add detail to the letters from scraping publicly posted information from secretary of state online business records.
