TLDR: REMINDER THAT GOOGLE NEVER CALLS YOU.
Just got a call saying that they are Google's security team, and someone in Moscow tried to change my phone number, etc. They even got some of my personal details correct.
They first tried to confirm some of the details (which I sadly confirmed because I forgot Google doesn't call you ever). They claimed that the cookie of my account is leaked and needs to be reset. They first created a fake account which has my email set as recovery email, which prompted the real Google system to send the automated email, and I fell for it because I was multitasking. Then they tried to "recover the account and reset the cookies," which then prompted my phone to show the "press the number to confirm" 2-step verification. I finally got suspicious enough and told them I don't trust it, which they said they will send me an email of identification after I press confirm. I asked to get the email first and they did, in which it showed that it was sent from [support@gmail via mx1-priority.com] with a Google logo. I told them it ain't right and they hung up.
On the other side, this is the first time I've experienced a scammer who has a native accent. The English is way better than the Chinese and Indian ones. They probably bought my info from some Chinese scammers because they tried to scam me a few times already.
