The scammer approached me one day, pretending to be a so-called advocate for an organization called American Farm Workers. As she approached from her vehicle, she looked like a mess, and she was not in the proper attire to be an advocate or representative for an organization, to say the least. She started asking questions about my employment history — if I happened to be working, if I was unemployed, or even trying to seek work. I admitted to her that yes, I was unemployed, and I would gladly take the opportunity to start working a job. From there, she started talking about what she does for her organization. As she mentioned, she is somehow an advocate and she goes out in public to recruit individuals, writes down their information like name, birthdate, phone number, and email. For a processing fee of $50.00, she said she would utilize my information to network my portfolio to a variety of employers in the farming industry, lumber industry, and irrigation systems, and that she would provide me with multiple listings of job openings through my email. I agreed and offered her my $50.00 to receive the job listings and be included in an employment agreement. She proceeded to leave as soon as she could in her vehicle, and sped off. I anticipated and waited patiently for the job listings promised. Well, time passed by, and all she sent were text messages with illiterate and blurry pictures, and file attachments that didn't work or caused phone issues. I was looking forward to getting back into the workforce, but I was too eager to realize I was being scammed.
