Fake Avera Health Job Offer with Bounced E-Checks

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $0.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I have been using Indeed to find potential jobs. I received an email from "Avera Health" saying my application was reviewed and they wanted an interview. I needed to download the Signal app and interview online. After that, I was given a job offer. Then they had me contact a hiring manager. They also sent e-checks for deposit, then asked me to make payments to their vendor through a few different routes. The e-checks bounced. I called Avera Health's real HR and they were aware of the scam.
