The scammer approached me one day, pretending to be a so-called advocate for an organization called American Farm Workers. She pulled up in her own vehicle, looking like a mess, and she wasn't in proper attire to be an advocate or representative for an organization, to say the least. She started asking questions about my employment history—if I happened to be working, if I was unemployed, or trying to seek work. I admitted that yes, I was unemployed, and I would gladly take the opportunity to start working a job. From there, she started talking about what she does for her organization. She said she was an advocate and goes out in public to recruit individuals, writes down their information like name, birthdate, phone number, and email, and with a processing fee of $50 she would utilize my information to network my portfolio, as she said, to a variety of employers in the farming industry, lumber industry, and irrigation systems. She promised to provide me with multiple listings of job openings through my email. I agreed and handed over my $50 to receive the job listings and be included in an employment agreement. She proceeded to leave as soon as she could in her vehicle and sped off. I anticipated and waited patiently for the job listings promised. Well, time passed and yet all she sent were text messages with illiterate, blurry pictures, and file attachments that didn't work or caused phone issues. I was looking forward to getting back into the workforce, but I was too eager to realize I was being scammed.
