Hello everyone. I need some help on the situation. I purchased a PC off Facebook Marketplace. Paid $2300 cash for it. Went to the person's home to pick it up with my brother, and the house and person seemed legit. They are flipping computers. There was a bunch of hardware etc. in his house, and it looked like a rich family. They told me that they purchased this PC from another person and were reselling it to me. I tested the PC and everything checked out, so I went home. About 2 months later, I get a message on my screen that the PC is rented and payment is past due. The message contained information of the account holder, such as email, phone number, and last 4 digits of credit card on file. The very next day, the leasing company calls me and leaves a voicemail referring to me as an account holder and asking me to give them a call back regarding payment options. How is that even possible? What should I do? I will attach a screenshot of the computer screen. Thank you.
Update: I will be meeting a seller, and he is willing to replace it for a different system. The person is a reseller so they easily could have been scammed just as I am. Their FB store has over 270 sales and 4.8 avg reviews rating (93 reviews), and the Facebook Marketplace account has been operating since 2021. I will update you guys on how it went. Thank you for all the replies. Also, I found out it is not a leased PC. It is a rented PC, which makes matters worse. I hope it goes well with the reseller. Thank you all once again.
