Phishing Scam Warning

A reddit report about a phishing scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I received an email yesterday that a new bank account was opened at Bendigo Bank in Australia. I am a US resident and never traveled there before. I can usually spot scams pretty quickly, but this one is worrying me because they are not asking for anything or saying they spend X amount of dollars. The first email was a new bank account notification email and today I got an email saying they are shipping my new debit card. The North Ryde is a branch of Bendigo and the return email 9253 is the branch number. I tried calling them yesterday from their website (not from the email link) and we had a hard time hearing each other. From what we could make out, she couldn't find a bank account with my name and DOB (I KNOW. I probably shouldn't have given that, but I figured it was the most I could give to get information.) I am worried that someone used my information to open a bank account there. I know they don't use SSN, so I believe I am relatively safe. I don't know where to go from here. Do I freeze my credit in the states just in case, does that even matter? https://preview. redd. it/i5vfgv3ch2ng1. png?width=2110&format=png&auto=webp&s=090879f3e01ec3a13a0dde1858831b6ecb208d71 https://preview. redd. it/de6ftw3ch2ng1. png?width=1814&format=png&auto=webp&s=f9f97d2e274f3a07bd73354632bcd0a6fc82f1c8
