I recently received an email at my professional DJ email address from someone introducing herself as a curator named “Jess.” She said she discovered my music on SoundCloud and that it would fit perfectly in a multi-sensory art installation she’s producing in London.
I replied politely and asked for more details about the project (dates, gallery name, venue, role, etc.).
She answered that my music would be part of an immersive installation exploring memory and space, and that I would also perform a live DJ set during the opening night. She mentioned a total project budget of €15,000, with €3,000 for me. She also claimed the exhibition is in collaboration with Pace Gallery and sent a link to one of their current shows. She shared an Instagram account as her portfolio.
However, she didn’t provide any concrete details like the exact venue, dates, production manager, or an official contact from the gallery. She said the gallery would handle all logistics later and asked for my full name and phone number so they could contact me.
An AI assistant I use suggested there’s a high chance this might be a scam, mainly because the email comes from a personal Gmail address, the message is very generic, and the details are vague.
Has anyone seen this type of approach before? Does it sound legitimate, or is this one of those common art-collaboration scams?
