Apple phishing text with a hotmail sender

A reddit report about a phishing scam that cost someone $149.85. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Just got a text that said it was from the Apple Store letting me know there had been a purchase in CA (I’m on the other coast) for $149.85. If I made that purchase there was nothing to do. If I didn’t, I should call Apple Support right away and gave a 1-855 number. So I closed the text and googled the number for Apple Support, and surprise surprise that number is a 1-800 number. The fake number ended with 6969, lol. So I went back to messages and saw the number came from an email account @hotmail.com. Just a reminder to look at all parts of a text message, including the header of the message that you may only see in the list of messages on your phone. When I read the message, that header wasn't there. Thanks r/Scams.
