I have an anonymous public X account that I use on my iPhone. No one in my IRL life knows my X username or that the account is me.
My friend, however, was getting typical scam text messages from Russian and Mexican country codes, but what stuck out is it had my X handle.
For example: "We see you "
It's so strange since I have no idea how they would have gotten this message, or how their number would have been found, especially linked to my X username.
They also sent a picture of my X profile picture...
I have none of my real life information on the X account—no email, phone number, or anything publicly digitally linking us.
I know they have been applying for hundreds of jobs, and those can come from sketchy websites where they enter their phone number, but I have no clue how my anonymous X account was linked to their private phone number.
We do share the same Wi-Fi network. Could there exist a website they clicked on that somehow got my X profile and linked the two?
