I got a text from 319-671-XX83 asking me to click on a link from something called rapid-recruit dot org to "join the protest". This seemed fishy to me. I'd never heard of this organization, and can't think of any reason why I'd need to click on that link. If there's a protest I want to attend, it will be in the news and I'll hear about it and go. So I did some digging.
The phone number (which I partially redacted here) appears to be a landline registered to no company or individual. That area code is SE Iowa. That's atypical of a legitimate organization.
rapid-recruit dot org doesn't appear in Google's indexes AND the site specifically tells Google not to index the pages (in their robots.txt file). That makes no sense for a legitimate political organizing site. Those sites WANT to be found. This site is hiding.
Don't click that link. It appears to be pretending to be something it isn't, and you don't need it.
