Online Purchase - Online purchase. Was looking for a used backhoe and found a Facebook ad from Reinke Farm Supply in Dale In. They listed a 2017 Caterpillar 430F2 at an excellent price. I linked to their website, looked at detail pictures and bought it with a wire transfer on 02/26/2026. From then on I was ghosted. Lost $30,000. Before buying, I did find internet information on this company name and location that made me believe it was legit. Too late I found this information was from a business that had been closed several years. Called previous owner's phone number and they said they had received numerous calls and visits about missing equipment. From the serial this number was also shown as part of pictures from an online farm auction. The pictures were identical to the Reinke site minus ones with serial number and miles. From Facebook history, I saw the name of the business had changed to Reinke from Cook Equipment & Trucking, a site the BBB had been warning online buyers to beware of and that had been tied to a national scam of used farm equipment.
