I told him I was good because I couldn't offer anything close to that as a broke college student. I offered $100, and his best offer was $150. He was hoping for more, but as I backed away saying I had no cash, he said I could just withdraw $100 from an ATM.
I ended the conversation because red flags and my instinct told me it was way too good to be true, and I left. Thinking about it now, it very likely was a scam, especially since I look young and was driving my parents' pretty new car, and he wanted to make money off me. He didn't have me sign anything, just wanted cash, so I wondered if anything in the box would even be worth $100—or if I was really getting scammed.
