I recently started looking for work through the Upwork website. Someone contacted me from one of the offers that were shown, and I went through a whole interview process. They sent me an offer letter that looked weird. Afterwards, they explained that they were going to give me all the materials I needed to work, but to do that, they were going to send me a check so I could buy from their vendor.
The check looked weird to me, so I looked for the website online and contacted the owner. She explained that this is an issue that has been happening, and that she is currently not hiring anyone.
