Back in December I was talking with someone, from overseas, on WhatsApp after meeting online. A few days after discussing the possibility of meeting up, they sent me a video note, about 3 in the morning my time, showing that they were bruised and battered (two black eyes, swollen lip). I asked what happened, and they said they were beaten by a man; I asked if they were ok, and they said they were going to the police. They sent two further video notes, the first appearing to show themselves being attended to by an EMT, and the third showing themselves in a hospital bed. They offered no details of the attack (claiming they didn't know who attacked them) and when I tried to be supportive (giving them the benefit of the doubt, though I was suspicious) they wrote "words alone can't help me now."
Obviously, this was a scam attempt, and they were trying to get me to volunteer to send them money. My question though, is how did they set up the video notes? Did they use a mod of some kind to add filters? Could they have genuinely injured themselves for the sake of believability? Two days after this they sent another video note clearly showing their black eyes (with changes in coloration that would make sense). Again, I get this was a scam attempt, but am just trying to figure out how they filmed it/edited it.
