I made a mistake typing this: it was a virtual visa that was used, not a Visa debit. I'm looking for any similar stories. My mother was at Walmart on March 15th. She made a purchase at the cash register and used her debit. When looking at her banking today, there were two purchases from walmart.com using her virtual visa, which is a separate card. We don't understand or know how they got that card information. It's been dealt with at the bank and flagged for fraud, etc. They should get their money back. We just don't know how they got the information. The bank said the purchases were made pretty much back to back right after her in-store purchase. But again, she used her debit to pay, and the card used for the fraud purchases was a virtual visa completely separate, different numbers, everything. My guess is they somehow saw the number in her wallet's card slot, but that would be pretty difficult to see the numbers. Just curious if anyone understands how this could have happened.
