Scam Prevention Guide

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I experienced this on my last trip to London, a few months ago, don't know if anyone else has had it? I was at a tube station, West End, at the entrance (outside the barriers) I dropped my bank card and immediately picked it up. out of nowhere a guy in plain clothes materialised out of the crowd and said he was a police officer and saw me pick up the card and wanted to check it was actually my card as he didn't see me drop it. he did not offer me any ID at first but I looked at him a bit sceptically whereupon he pulled out an ID card, although by that point I was too flustered to look at it properly. anyway i happened to have my passport on me so showed him that to show that I was the same person as the name on the card, & he thanked me and went on his merry way. the whole encounter lasted maybe half a minute, he didn't take any details or anything. he was reasonably well spoken, called me sir etc. and nothing has happened since (I mean I haven't had money removed from my account or anything) has anyone else had this? scam of some sort or legit?
