This has happened to me twice and I don't know if this has happened to anyone else or if I should do something about it.
First Catfish: In December 2025 I made a friend on Instagram. I'm homeschooled so I don't really go out much to make friends, so I resort to online friends. This girl said she lived in the same town as me, would always post pics of herself, and even was tagged in pics of her on her 'birthday'. We talked and became friends, and she eventually invited me to come ice skating with her and her friends. Everything went well; we were texting up until I got to the parking lot of the ice rink. Once I got there to buy my skates, I went to her account to tell her I was there, and her account was gone. Vanished. So I went along with my day and ice skated alone.
Second Catfish: This girl and I had been friends on Instagram for almost a year. We'd talk about friend drama, life in our town, rockstars we had crushes on, funny memes we saw. We even FaceTimed once. I have a good eye for AI and I can attest that none of her posts were AI. She asked to go to the mall and we planned out everything. I was sitting on the couch waiting for her to pick me up, and she said she was 5 minutes away. 20 minutes rolls by... nothing. I go to her account... gone. Vanished. Now, I'm used to rejection, it's whatever. But I'm mainly concerned about the fact that I gave this girl my address to come pick me up.
I have agoraphobia that I'm getting treated, so the outside world is very scary in my eyes, and I have extreme paranoia. I can't even sleep tonight because I'm worried whoever I have my address to is going to show up at my house and hurt me. Can someone please calm my nerves and give me advice?
