Got a call from this person about 2-3 days ago claiming to be from a company that does some sort of things for you. I declined the call, thinking it was a wrong number. He followed up a couple days later with a text wanting access to my Stripe account. My question is how did they find my mobile number in the first place, and even my name? They claim to give 10-20% profit of businesses from Stripe holders, which feels very suspicious. I also wonder how they knew I had a Stripe account.
Here is the text he sent: "Hey [my name]! This is (his name) from (his company). I know it's been a little while, but I wanted to reach out because we have something that could be a great fit for you. We work with Stripe account holders like yourself and match them with brand partners who process payments through their account. It's completely passive the brand does all the work and you earn 10% of everything they process, which typically comes out to around $1-2K+ per day on your account. There's no upfront cost. Would you be open to hearing a bit more about how it works? Simply reply here or drop us a message on WhatsApp at (his number) and we'll get back to you right away!"
