Very smart scam and I haven't figured out a way how I can dodge the bullet (other than not using FB market?)
Basically, I was selling my graphics card (500 GBP). Met the guy, turns out to be 2 young white guys in a huge pick up truck, a company car of a builder firm I believe with their logo. One of them sat in the driver's seat, I showed the guy the card, he opened and checked, put it in his car seat. And did a bank transfer (using a very realistic Lloyds app) showing value go down etc. After waiting for 5 min, money is still not in my bank. But I didn't want to stand out there on a Friday evening so I let them go. But then I already realised I got scammed basically.
Now, the problem is even if I realise something is wrong, I am not quite in a position to ask the item back (2 guys and driver ready to run off I guess).
Or let's say recommended approach of not giving item before getting the money, they will just say their money in the bank has gone down. So I don't know how in any way I can walk away from this.
Basically I think I will avoid any in person selling from now on.. do you have some tips?
