Scammed by a Nigerian dressmaker over custom engagement outfit

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone $1000.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I purchased a custom dress/suit for my engagement party from a Nigerian retailer. The brand is called byKeerah and they seemed to have a legitimate social following and reviews from American customers. I paid $1000 upfront on Zelle for the materials and labor, and we agreed on a deadline the items should arrive by. The deadline is in a few days and they said the items are not ready yet. Whatever was "made" was even in a completely different color fabric than what we had originally agreed on. I asked for a refund and they freaked out and said I'm pressuring them too much, they're going to halt all production, and not give me a refund. I reported it to my bank, but would appreciate any guidance on potentially getting any money back.
