Savannah Banana Tickets Exchange Facebook Scam

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone $40.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

The Facebook group 'Savannah Banana Tickets Exchange' has 14k members and has been around since Dec 2024. We contacted the admin (JayElle). Screenshots were provided to us showing legit tickets for what we were searching for (one extra ticket for a kid). Here is how the scam unfolded: Text the main number as shown on all the posts. Great interaction, confirmed details, provided screenshots of tickets in their account. We were provided a different phone number to send a Zelle. Sent the $40 Zelle. Once the $40 was sent via Zelle, we immediately received a message that another $30 was required for a transfer fee. At that point, we knew it was a scam. It is likely that the phone number shown in all the admin posts on the page is an AI bot based on how it started interacting after that additional $30 transfer fee message. It was $40, so a lesson learned. Not sure there is anything that can be done. We have all screenshots of Zelle, messages, etc but not sure it is allowable to post.
