Purchased Content Autopilot on Whop, sold by @theguy on Instagram. He claims to help people go viral, says content is easy, and grows accounts by thousands of followers. Thought he was a beast at this, so I invested my money to learn. My intent was to learn from him so I can apply it to my own clients, as well as outsource some of my own personal branding to an "expert," as I truly believe in posting more.
Btw, he has retaliated by making a piece of video "exposing me" and saying that I only did 4 days before backing out. That's definitely not true. I was in his program for at least 2-3 weeks.
First week was ok - had an onboarding call, started digesting the info from recordings (I can't attend the live ones as it's 4am here - brought this up during the sales call and the person told me that's ok). I got introduced to the team. They asked for my story and what I wanted to achieve. I told them what I shared above plus ads strategy and how to fix systems and teams.
When I received my first content to shoot, I was shocked. It looked like ChatGPT stuff. For example, one of the talking head scripts was:
"You are going to hit your content goal this month. I am not asking you. I am telling you. And this is exactly what you are going to do."
"Step one. Pick 3 topics you can talk about for hours. Not 10. Not 20. Three. That is your content universe for the entire month."
"Step two. Batch film one day a week. Pick a day, block out 2 hours, and film 5 to 7 videos in one sitting. That gives you content for the whole week without thinking about it every single day."
"Step three. Every single video starts with a hook that triggers a pain point. Not a greeting. Not hey guys. A problem your audience is dealing with right now. That is the first sentence of every video."
"Step four. Post once a day, 5 days a week. Monday through Friday. No weekends. No burnout. Just consistent, strategic content that actually connects with real people."
"That is it. 3 topics, 1 batch day, pain point hooks, and 5 posts a week. Do this for 30 days and your account will not look the same. Stop planning. Start filming."
But I trusted the process and went with it, thinking they would layer it with b-roll or that maybe I was overcomplicating things. What came out was just the same video I shot with TikTok auto captions. No b-roll (I provided a whole folder of it), no links to my story (what's the point of onboarding), and sometimes not even a text hook.
I still decided to post it to see whether maybe he's right. Ended up with a few hundred views per post (typically less than 500) and just less than 10 followers from the first batch.
I honestly understand the need for content to "take time," but there should be a minimal standard in editing (e.g., text hooks, which his own content has) or at least b-roll. At least for a $5500 service.
I confronted him about it.
