I received this message today. I’ve already received my tax refund, so I very much doubt that my file is still active and that there are things that need to be reviewed. I blocked and marked it as spam. I’ll wait for something in the mail from the IRS before worrying about it. Just wanted to make a warning for others to be more aware this time of year.
The message came from 1866####### and said: 'Happy Monday. This is Kenter [middle] [lastname] calling from the Tax Filing Support and mediation office. I wanted to reach out because your account was flagged during a weekend update, and it looks like there are still a few items that need to be confirmed. This is actually one of the better times to handle it while your file is still active and being reviewed. We set up a direct no wait verification line so you can get immediate clarity on where things stand. This helps determine what relief programs are matched to your situation. Give me a call back at 888-########. Again, 888-########. If you received this in error, press 2 to be removed.'
