I did some research before making this post and found that this was a popular scam about 3-4 years ago, so I just wanted to warn you all that apparently it’s still happening!
This person is a private account with 2 posts and ~400 followers. They DMed me randomly about using a picture I posted as mural art, and I was skeptical, but they said it was “real” and “legit” and then sent me one of my own posts that they wanted to use (it was my most recent post from months ago). This made me even more skeptical because I had a much better post for a mural than the one they selected in my honest opinion, so I asked why they picked that post in particular and they didn’t answer my question. Then I wanted to do a final check and ask for examples of their previous art, and they sent me three images with inconsistent style, and one was very clearly a cropped screenshot. I reverse searched the images but couldn’t find anything useful except that two of them were posted on two random different accounts with 0 likes and no captions.
I just sent my final message to this person politely declining their offer, and said that I don’t feel comfortable having my image used without having any control over it. I will link the post that I found from 4 years ago about this scam in the replies. Stay safe everyone ❤️🩹
