I got phone calls and letters from them and it looked legit. I received calls throughout December and January and I got a letter in January. They knew my health insurance, birthdays for me and my child, phone numbers, and address already. I gave them some information about me and my kid over the phone in February. The lady on the phone ran it, said they were applying my child to social security benefits. She said that I did not qualify for the benefits and didn't have enough stuff going on. Did I just give our information to scammers? If I did, what do I do now? What are my next steps? I am so freaked out. I gave them SS numbers and birthdays and stuff. God, I feel so stupid. I should've looked deeper into it. I've been applying for SSI unsuccessfully myself and messing up the paperwork for over a year. I thought it was a god send. Now I am afraid I made a huge mistake and hurt myself and my child. What do I do?
